Getting Started…
Well now the idea for Project Purl had been burnt into my brain and I knew I just had to go ahead and go for it! But how? I’ve never done anything like this before and wasn’t quite sure where to start. So out came my trusty notebook and so began the brainstorming.
First thing was to give a name to the organization. This I actually found to be the easy part as the name just sort of came to me….destiny? Perhaps! I then got together a list of items that I wanted to be able to accept donations of. With everything finally in order I sat down and wrote a letter to email to the local shelters and started establishing contacts.
I really felt at this point that I was on a roll and everything was starting to fall into place but then it dawned on me…how am I going to get the donations? And so my next step was figuring out how to get the word out. Time for more brainstorming!!
Until Next Time...

Welcome to the Project Purl Blog...
Hello All,
Welcome to my Project Purl blog. Please forgive me as I am VERY new to the whole idea of keeping a blog. My goal here is to write as often as time allows about the goings on in my new endeavor, Project Purl. Founded by myself just a short month ago we are a non-profit charity organization dedicated to keeping the homeless men, women and children of the Greater Manchester, NH area warm during the frigid winter months. We accept donations of hand knit/crochet items such as hats, scarves, mittens/gloves, and socks as well as other essential items. I then store these items in my home, as space can be very limited in the shelters, until the shelters are ready to distribute them.
Being a knitter myself, always with multiple projects going on at once, I had no homes for a good majority of my finished projects. I was also finding myself wanting to do something to be able to give back to the community and so I searched for a local organization that would accept hand knit items. Unable to find such an organization locally and with plenty of free time on my hands I decided that I would go ahead and start one of my own. And so Project Purl was born.
